PictoCal exists to read event details out of a picture. When you share an image with it, the app resizes the image and sends it to Google's Gemini API, via Firebase AI Logic, together with a short instruction asking the model to return any dates, times, titles and locations it can see. Google processes the image and returns that information.
The image is sent only when you actively share one. PictoCal does not scan your photo library, does not upload images in the background, and does not keep a copy of the image after the events have been extracted.
To stop other apps abusing its API keys, PictoCal uses Firebase App Check with the Play Integrity API. This sends Google a signal confirming the request comes from a genuine, unmodified copy of the app on a genuine device. It does not identify you.
The app contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporting, no advertising library and no other network calls. Its only internet permission is used for the two purposes above.
Once an image reaches Google it is governed by Google's terms for the Gemini API, not by this policy. Those terms differ by tier, and PictoCal uses both:

Read the terms directly at ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms. If an image contains something you would not want a third party to process, do not share it with PictoCal.
PictoCal asks for calendar read and write permission. Read access is used to show you the list of calendars on your phone so you can choose where an event should go. Write access is used to add the events you have reviewed and approved.
Your calendar contents are never transmitted anywhere. They are not sent to Google's Gemini API, not sent to the developer, and not used for any purpose beyond showing you the list and writing the events you confirm. If you decline the permission, the rest of the app still works; only adding events to a calendar is unavailable.
All of the following stays in the app's private storage on your phone:
None of this is transmitted. You can erase the record at any time from the Sent tab, and all of it is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data in Android settings.
Because PictoCal holds no account and stores nothing about you on any server, there is no profile for the developer to retrieve, correct or erase — deleting the app deletes everything it holds. For the processing Google performs on the images you submit, exercise your rights through Google using the terms linked above.
